Did You Know
Knocked-out Tooth? We are more likely to be able to save a tooth if it is returned to its socket within 1 hour of being knocked out. Before you get to the dentist: Rinse off the tooth root with water if it is dirty but do not touch this end; keep it in a small container of milk or saliva.
"(Came in with a) broken tooth. Filled on the spot. Very pleased"

It's An Emergency If...
Irrespective of whether you can tolerate the pain you should treat the following as emergency situations requiring your immediate attention if the patient:
- Is in severe pain that is not helped by painkillers.
- Is bleeding a lot and it won't stop.
- Has a large facial swelling.
- May have broken bones e.g. a fractured jaw.
- Has trauma of the face, mouth or teeth after a recent accident or injury.
- Is losing or has lost consciousness.
If in doubt get the patient to the accident and emergency (A&E) department of your local hospital.
